Story
Dancing for a Cause Close to My Heart ❤️
I first met Carol through raising money for Dove House Hospice, and from the moment I got to know her, I realised what an amazing human being she is.
Seeing Carol’s incredible strength and courage following the heartbreaking loss of her son has stayed with me. Her journey has inspired me in ways I never expected. I’ve struggled for a long time with confidence and self-esteem, and there have been times when I’ve doubted myself and stepped away from something I love — ballroom dancing and performing.
But Carol has inspired me to find that courage again.
So, on 29th December 2026, I’ll be stepping back onto the stage at Hull City Hall to take part in a very special ballroom and Latin dance event. We’ll be learning and performing as teams representing Hull FC or Hull KR, and I’ll proudly be representing Hull FC!
For me, this isn’t just about learning new dances or getting back on stage. It’s about pushing through the doubts, rebuilding my confidence and proving to myself that I can still do something that once brought me so much joy.
Most importantly, I’m doing it to raise money for SUDEP Action.
Although most people with epilepsy live long and healthy lives, epilepsy is still one of the top ten causes of early death. SUDEP Action works to help prevent epilepsy-related deaths, support bereaved families and ensure that those affected have a voice in the work being done.
Their priorities are simple but incredibly important:
To prevent deaths.
To be supported.
To be involved.
Carol’s strength and the loss she has experienced have reminded me just how precious life is, and why supporting causes like this matters.
So I’m stepping outside my comfort zone, putting on my dancing shoes and facing my fears — all while hopefully raising as much money as possible for a cause that means so much.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will mean the world to me and will help SUDEP Action continue their vital work.
Thank you for reading my story, for supporting me and, hopefully, for helping me dance my way to a difference. ❤️💃🕺
Let’s do this for Carol, for those we have lost, for those living with epilepsy, and for the families who need support.
