Story
Hello everyone!
I’m thrilled to share that I will be embarking on a 53k hike through the beautiful Cotswolds, tackling a challenging 1600m climb. This adventure will take place along a section of the Cotswold Way, starting at Cirencester and finishing at Wotton-Under-Edge.
About the Challenge
This hike is set to be an incredible experience, with 2,000 participants joining in. I’ll be walking with a friend, making it a memorable journey of camaraderie and support.
Why I’m Doing This
It’s been a while since I’ve taken on an ultra-hike, and I wanted to challenge myself once again. More importantly, I’m doing this to support smaller charities like WAY Widowed and Young, which is our chosen charity at the Crematoria this year. WAY provides invaluable support to young widows and widowers, helping them navigate through incredibly tough times.
Why Support WAY?
Supporting me in this hike means supporting a small charity that makes a significant impact on many lives within our industry. WAY Widowed and Young offers a lifeline to those who have lost their partners at a young age, providing community, resources, and hope.
What Do I Get Out of It?
While there’s no grand prize, the sense of achievement and the knowledge that I’ve done a good deed is more than enough. Plus, I’ll receive a medal and a glass of bubbles (which I won’t drink). This hike is a testament to my belief that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
Preparation and Feelings
Preparing for this hike means spending as much time on my feet as possible, which will be interesting with kids and my current injury. Despite the challenges, I’m excited and trying to remember not to be too competitive!
