Story

COCC Monaco Charity Ride – St Tropez to Monaco

In 2011 seven friends came up with the idea to ride newly purchased bikes from Monaco to St Tropez in the hope of losing a few pounds and raising some money for charity along the way. Following the success of the first ride, many more people in Monaco expressed an interest in taking part in a future event and from this small start the idea of an annual ride from St Tropez to Monaco in aid of charity was born.

On the first training ride with HSH Prince Albert II, about 20 riders set out on a sensible ride of 30km and on the return to Monaco stopped in Place d'Armes where it would normally have been a coffee to finish. A newly opened hut was spotted serving Champagne and Oysters and very quickly the consensus changed from coffee!!! It was then decided this would be a great name for the newly founded cycling club - The Champagne and Oyster Cycling Club or C.O.C.C for short!

The ride has helped reach more than one million people across 43 countries, while continuing to fund vital MND research and support services. McLaren, being one of the original founders of the Champagne & Oysters Cycling Club (COCC) are very proud to sponsor this fundraising event for the 12th consecutive year.

So on 31st May 2026 Brendan Ryan Senior site manager at Acton ,Stephanie Wheatley Senior surveyor at Chalcots Estate, Jay Newman Regional Commercial Director and David Gavin, Managing Director, Operations will be taking part in the 2026 (COCC) Charity Ride . We are training hard for this event, putting in the long miles to prepare for the distance, heat and challenge of the route. It’s a tough day on the bike, but an incredibly worthwhile one.

Any donation—large or small—goes directly to the charities and helps maximise the impact of the ride.

Thank you for your support.
