Story
Bede House Association is a small, local charity based in Bermondsey, supporting vulnerable people in our community for many years. The Bede Centre supports a thriving community, with people with LD and autism at its heart. We are in regular contact with around 116 individual clients with learning disabilities in a year. On Southwark Council estimates, this is around 9% of the total eligible population. Around one-third of these participants receive no local authority funding to come to Bede. We are often the only named partner on a person’s support. Bede offers people with Learning Disabilities a regular time to meet their friends and part take in regular activities such as music, growing veg in our allotment, creating art, volunteering, playing football and other sports to name just a few activities.
I will be raising money to support for one of our most popular events; going to the seaside for the day. The money you donate will help Bede take up to 80 people go to Brighton for the day this year, with their friends. We need the money for the coaches, accessible transport and if there is any left over the ice creams! Please be generous. For many people with Learning Disabilities this is there only opportunity to have a fun and safe day out with their friends and family.
