Last April, after a brave battle with breast cancer, my Brother Paul lost his Wife, Sarah. Sarah was a wonderful Daughter, Sister, Wife and Mother to her two young boys.

Sarah fit so much into her 34 years, she travelled and left her native Canada to live and work in Manchester, where both of her children were born. She was an artist and created poems and photography that were truly unique.

She believed in making experiences and memories that last forever and shape you as a person.

We are devastated that she was taken from us, but we feel her presence with us every day.

Sarah has inspired me to take part in “The Great Saunter,” a 32 mile walk around the perimeter of Manhattan, on Saturday May 4th this year. This event has been going since 1985, and I have decided to raise some money for Wood Street Mission, a charity based in the heart of Manchester that helps alleviate the effects of poverty on children and families in Manchester and Salford.

Life is short and precious. Do what you love.

I know I won’t be walking on my own, because Sarah will be with me.
