Stephen's Charity Challenge

I am writing this with a very heavy heart.

Ruddi’s Retreat is a very special charity that provides much-needed holidays for families with children who are battling cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. These holidays give families precious time together and the chance to make memories during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

Sadly, Ruddi’s Retreat has recently been the victim of a terrible fraud and eight family holidays have been lost. Each holiday is worth around £300, meaning that £2,400 worth of holidays that could have given eight families precious memories has been taken away.

I am disabled and have cerebral palsy, and I walk with a frame. Walking can be difficult and painful for me, but I have never let that stop me from doing what I can to help others.

So I have decided to take on another challenge.

At the end of October, I will walk from my home to Greenhead Park, then walk around the park eight times — one lap for each of the eight holidays that have been lost.

Once I have completed the eight laps, I will hopefully walk all the way home again.

This will be a huge challenge for me, but knowing that every step could help give a family affected by cancer the holiday they desperately need will give me the motivation to keep going.
