Story
On my 67th birthday this March, I'm driving a medical aid ambulance to Ukraine where Russia has intentionally focussed attacks on the power generation infrastructure as well as on hospitals - both crucial for civilians. This winter will be harsh and challenging for Ukrainians.
It costs £15,000 to buy, recondition, equip and deliver an ambulance, driven by volunteers like me. MLLU work closely with Ukrainian health and emergency authorities to identify what is needed.
- £50 buys 10 specialist bandages to treat big wounds that require pressure application to staunch blood loss.
- £100 buys 4 fire-extinguisher balls for schools and hospitals - if Russian attacks start fires they are thrown in to put them out.
- £250 buys an ambulance-based suction unit for paramedics to clear airways and save lives.
- £500 buys 400 endotracheal tubes for hospitals such as Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital attacked in July 2024.
- £1,000 buys a stretcher, wheelchair and backboard for an ambulance
MLLU has (as of Nov 2024) delivered 86 aid-filled ambulances since Putin's invasion. These have saved lives and shown Ukraine's people that the outside world is keen to help. We - and they - are hugely grateful for your generosity in helping save lives and supporting those suffering from Russian aggression. Thank you.
