I am raising money for Cure Leukaemia by running the 2026 London Marathon.

I've never run a marathon before. The last time I even ran a half was nearly 10 years ago. I have to fit my training around my children, work and running a football team so I'm having to do a lot of early mornings and late evenings to get the mileage in. So it's a big challenge for me.

But it's very important to me to raise money for Cure Leukaemia. Many of you will know my story with Leukaemia so I won't go into it all again. But it has given me some difficult moments since I first became ill in 2020, just before the COVID lockdown. That period was obviously a very difficult one for me and my family.

But I've been very lucky to fully recover since. I will be on chemotherapy for the rest of my life but, other than some blood tests, I'm grateful that it causes me very little bother now thankfully.

But treatments like mine haven't always been available. Twenty years ago, people with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia were lucky to survive 5 years. My diagnosis was now just over 5 years ago. It is thanks to organisations like Cure Leukaemia that such good treatments and outcomes exist.

I am obviously very grateful that they do! The training, the time and the running will be worth it if I can raise lots of money that means that more people with more types of blood cancer can have the treatments, recovery, and most importantly the time that I am fortunate enough to have.
