Meg has been part of White Lodge since 2010, and now at 16, this feels like the perfect time for me and my family to give back to this incredible charity as we approach the end of our White Lodge journey as a “child.”

When Meg was just three months old, she was diagnosed with a cerebral abscess. While we are so grateful that she is still with us and brings joy to us every single day, that diagnosis left a trail of pain and complexities we never planned for. It resulted in cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and - perhaps most impactful - global developmental delay. Today, we have a 16-year-old with the cognitive ability of (a very naughty!) toddler.

Without White Lodge, I honestly don’t know how we would have coped.

White Lodge Centre supports children and adults with a wide range of disabilities, helping them - and their families - live fulfilling lives. They provide essential services, therapies, and respite care that make a real difference.

White Lodge has been a huge part of our lives for over 13 years - since Megan was less than six months old. In the early years, we relied on specialist physiotherapy and speech and language therapy. More recently, Meg has loved the weekend and holiday clubs, and she stays at Tree Tops one night a week. That respite is absolutely priceless for us as a family.

To raise money for this amazing charity, I’m taking on the London Marathon 2026. It’s a huge challenge, but nothing compared to what Meg and others like her face every day. Every mile I run will be for Meg and for White Lodge.
