Island Youth Projects' fundraiser for Saraswotty School- Bandipur Nepal

Stephen Grant is raising money for Early Years Education (EYE) in Nepal
We are a small charity dedicated to enhancing the life opportunities of the poorest children in rural districts of Nepal by investing in improving early years education. We work in conjunction with local municipalities who provide back-to-back funding to support EYE classrooms in 21+ rural schools.

Story

We are so grateful for the generosity given thus far, it is amazing. We are uplifting our target one VERY last time (promise!)- the extra money above our original traget is sufficient to place a teaching assistant at the school for two years. We know from our previous project in Nepal just how well these fabulous people are appreciated by the children and their community. Thank you.

Once again this year Island Youth Projects (IYP) charity will partner with Early Years Education Nepal for a vital schools project in a very needy area.

Saraswotty School- Bandipur Nepal

On the 17th May 2025 a team of 17 from Island Youth Projects will commence our second junior school renovation on a remote hill top outside Bandipur village in central Nepal.

The original simple government 2 storey school assigned for 40 of the lowest cast village children was destroyed by two earthquake tremors in 2020 and 2021.

The IYP mission in partnership with the local charity EYE Nepal and the District Mayor, we will again work alongside local villagers and a host of children painters to complete the school in just one week!. Preparatory work has already commenced in February and is now advancing rapidly.

The new building is being constructed to modern standards, will be earthquake proof and have four brightly painted classrooms complete with carpeting and brand-new furniture. The school playground area will also be relandscaped.

The IYP volunteers will assist with the final construction of the building and their project will include:

• Final construction works

• Fitting out of the zinc roofing

• External and internal wall painting

• Classroom carpeting

• Installation of classroom furniture and learning materials

• Playground and site landscaping

To fund the cement, paint, plaster, carpets, windows, roof, furniture and teaching assitance, IYP are proud that with support of their generous friends and family fund £10,000 which has been matched by the local Mayor who has donated another £10,000.
