This summer I’m taking part in something that means a lot more to me than just playing ice hockey.

From 24th to 26th July 2026, I’ll be heading to Sheffield to play in the UK Charity Allstars — a two-day ice hockey tournament bringing players together from all over the country. Every team is there to support a chosen charity, all with the same aim: to raise money and awareness for causes that really matter.

I’m proud to be fundraising for Help for Heroes, a charity that supports wounded, injured and sick veterans and their families. As a military veteran myself, this is a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart. I know first-hand how tough life can be after service, both physically and mentally, and I’ve seen the difference the right support can make when people are finding their feet again in civilian life.

The UK Charity Allstars isn’t just about winning games. It’s about teamwork, resilience and looking out for one another — values that are at the core of both the Armed Forces and team sport. Over two tough days on the ice, everyone will be pushing themselves, united by a shared respect for the charities we’re representing.

For me, taking part is a way of giving something back to the military community that helped shape who I am today. Every shift, every block and every goal is for the veterans who’ve served our country and who continue to face challenges long after their service ends.

When the puck drops in Sheffield this July, I’ll be skating not just for my team, but for my fellow veterans — and for the belief that no one who has served should ever feel forgotten.
