Story

Boycott Your Bed: Hampden Park on 03/10/2025

This October, a team of Scottish Friendly staff will be sleeping outside at Hampden Park for one night as part of Boycott Your Bed—a powerful event in support of Action for Children.

Why?

It's simple: every child deserves what we take for granted; like a safe place to sleep, nourishing food, warmth, education, and the care to navigate life's challenges. Regrettably, many children in the UK lack these fundamental requirements.

This is alien to me, it is hopefully alien to you too but for too many children in the UK that is their reality. I wish it wasn't necessary but 3.1 million children are in deep poverty, meaning their family income is less than half the national average.

Action for Children is on a mission to alter this reality—assisting vulnerable children and families during crises, guiding them towards brighter futures, and empowering them to flourish. Through our participation in Boycott Your Bed, we express support for these children, aiming to raise crucial funds for Action for Children to sustain their life-altering initiatives.

Our team comprises Christine Manson, Lucy Crossley, Nicola Maxwell, Catherine Noble, Ryan Watson, Heather McRoberts, Zoie Begg, Mhairi Boyle, Andy Harrison, Morgan MacDonald, Karen Black, Kieron Munro, Adam MacDonald, and Katie Walker.

We are asking for your support - not for us, but for the children in need. Every contribution, irrespective of its size, significantly impacts their lives. Join us in making a difference.

You can support us via the following link, thanks in advance for your generosity.

Here’s how your contribution could make a difference:

£5 could provide a teddy bear to comfort a child facing crisis

£5 could pay for a child to go swimming who might not otherwise be able to afford it

£5 could provide a child with a healthy breakfast every day for a week

£10 could pay for nappies and wipes for a baby or toddler for a week

£12 could pay for a child to go for a meal out with their friends

£15 could buy phone credit for a vulnerable young person, helping them stay in touch with their support worker

£20 could provide a child with essential school uniform items like shirts, skirts, shorts, and jumpers

£25 could provide warm bedding for a child

£40 could pay for food for a child for a week, including a hot meal every evening

Every donation, big or small, helps create brighter futures for children in need. Thank you for your continued support!
