Aberdeen Kiltwalk 2025 · 1 June 2025 ·

We’re here for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure. In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time. Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.

Story

UPDATE: Many thanks to all who donated. Your generosity is truly appreciated. I raised over £900 for Aberdeen Samaritans. There were 7 of us walking for the Samaritans and we raised £5000 in total. I have provided some photos of the event in the gallery (swipe along). Over 6,000 people took part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk and raised an estimated £1.2 million for charities in NE Scotland. I completed the walk in 7 hours with about 1 hour in breaks and 6 hours of walking at an average of 3 miles an hour. I can assure you that the last mile was completed at a much slower rate than the first. No blisters or injuries and pilates planned for later in the week to stretch out.

One again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart

Steve

Aberdeen Samaritans was founded in 1960, the year of my birth, and is one of the oldest branches in the UK. We are open every day of the week for people who want support or just someone to talk to. We are all volunteers and freely give our time to this great charity. We have been in Dee Street for 50 years. Our building is in need of repairs to enable us to continue to provide our service. A group of us volunteers are doing the Kiltwalk to raise some much needed monies. Please consider a donation. Every little helps (many a mickle makes a mockle).
