Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge 2024 · 18 May 2024 ·
Short version:
I'll do100km ultra-marathon in May 2024, you give a small amount of cash to MSF.
Longer version:
It's easy to take health care for granted, no matter how chaotic things get, most of us can access help when we need it. When I worked for Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) I met many people who didn't know where to turn.
I remember being on a boat conducting a mobile clinic in South Sudan during the civil war in 2014. David was 4 or 5 years old and had an eye infection. It looked painful and threatened his sight unless we could get him to help. At that time I used to get eye infections and knew how much discomfort he must have been in. He sat, cross legged, next to me, on the boat for hours, in the blazing sun, no family were able to travel with him, he didn't complain.
On 18 May 2024 I'm doing an 58km ultra-marathon for people like David. These day's an ultra isn't enough so I thought for good measure the next day I'll do a full marathon as well...100km in two days!
Give what you can afford...even a few pounds will save lives...a measles vaccine which would stop an awful disease tear through a refugee camp costs less than $1 per child.
