Story / About My Challenge
In September 2026 I’ll be part of a relay team attempting to swim across the English Channel — without a wetsuit. I’ve always loved swimming and I’m taking on this next challenge to push myself and raise vital funds for SwimTayka. Swimming the Channel without a wetsuit will be cold and demanding, but every stroke will be for a cause that saves lives and builds lasting community skills.
Why this matters
Drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide — these are wasted lives and preventable deaths. SwimTayka’s mission is to bring swimming teachers to disadvantaged communities so children learn life-saving skills now and become the teachers of the next generation. Your donation helps create that legacy.
What I’m asking
Please donate whatever you can. Small gifts add up and make a huge difference: every pound helps fund teacher training, lessons, and safety programs that stop drownings and give children lifelong confidence. If you can’t give, please share this page and spread the word — your support matters just as much.
Examples of impact
£5 helps provide basic materials for lessons
£15 supports a child’s swim lesson
£50 contributes to teacher training and program sustainability
About me
I love swimming and usually rely on a wetsuit in cold water, but for this challenge wetsuits aren’t allowed — making the swim tougher and more meaningful. I’m training hard and committed to completing the relay to raise as much as possible for SwimTayka.
Thank you
Thank you for any support — donations, shares, and encouragement. Together we can help prevent needless drownings and build a lasting legacy of swimming teachers and safer communities.
