Story
Back in 2013 I ran the London Marathon to raise funds for Stand Against Violence, a small UK charity, in memory of my brother Richard. Now, 11 yrs later and a couple of stone heavier, I felt the need to challenge myself again and try and raise some desperately needed funds. So it’s 26.2 miles once again, but this time on the streets of Manchester.
We lost Rich to a random act of violence back in 2002 whilst he was on a night out with friends. The effects of that night not only irreversibly changed the lives of my family, but also those of Richard's attacker.
SAV work with school and college age children, as well as young offenders, to bring home the far reaching consequences of violence and its use in our society. Equipping our young adults with the tools they may need to diffuse potentially violent situations or, as a last resort, to protect themselves and in the worst possible circumstances to provide much needed first aid.
'If violence is the answer, then you have failed to understand the question'.
Please donate whatever you can to a cause that is very close to my heart. I'm going to need all the help that I can get!
