Story
My dad, Stephen Moore, passed away on June 12, 2025, from the blood cancer multiple myeloma. He was an amazing father to three sons, a loving husband, and a doting grandfather. He was an incredibly calming presence, and if you were stressed or anxious about anything, it just seemed to melt away around him. He was strong - even when he was ill, he had this mentality of ‘what will be, will be’ and always worried more about the people around him than himself. But dad was selfless like that.
On August 16th, it would have been his 70th birthday. I made a donation to the charity Myeloma UK in his honour, but it got me thinking that there must be more I can do. A lot of people take part in sponsored running or walking events - I have cerebral palsy, so these kind of things aren’t really suitable for me. But over the past several months I’ve become really invested in bouldering.
With that in mind I plan to do a charity climb, with friends and family also taking part, at 270 climbing park in Cheltenham. We will be on harnesses, taking turns to climb a 17 metre wall, hopefully climbing the equivalent of Ben Nevis over the course of the day. There will be about 7 or 8 of us climbing, and people are welcome to come along and watch.
Thank you for reading, and donating.
