Story
So somehow, April 23rd 2024, marks 10years since Steph, our sister, daughter, cousin and friend to many, thought sod this, what's on the other side? And so cystic fibrosis won again...Steph was just 24 years old when she passed away. Far too young.
To commemorate the anniversary, we have decided to harness some of her proper grit and determination, and walk from Manchester United's Old Trafford, to Stoke City's Bet365 stadium. Reason being, they were her two teams. She loved football, which is why I nag you all about fantasy football every year and the league is named after her, The Stefy Graf League. She was also a decent player, hitting all 5 goals for Hassell County Primary School, (yes 5?!), in a 5-1 win over our bitter rivals, St Margarets school! Seeing it live, it was pretty bloody impressive!
So here we are, route planned, 58miles-ish in total, using pedestrian friendly routes and a lot of canal paths, starting on the evening of April 19th at Old Trafford, and finishing Sunday 21st at The Bet365. 18miles Friday night, 25miles on the Saturday, and finally 15miles on the Sunday. A few of us will be doing the full path start to finish, but anyone is welcome to join for whatever stint they fancy doing along the way! Be that stints around Manchester, or the home straight in Stoke!
The money bit...over the years, we have raised £7.3k so far in total, over The London Marathon in 2018 and Great North Run in 2022. Thank you and well played everyone! And now, I kindly ask you to dip again. Times are hard, I know. But even a cheeky quid will go along way. Growing up on wards, we saw what a difference every little bit makes. Imagine being in hospital, every few months, for 2+ weeks solid at a time, sleeping there and not going home, away from family and friends, getting pumped with drugs every few hours...your...entire...life. And this is still happening to kids with Cystic Fibrosis now.
Give 2 seconds and a quid of your time, it will make a difference to some kids life, stuck on a ward.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which causes sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system. It affects more than 10,800 people in the UK. One in 25 of us carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without knowing.
Cystic fibrosis comes with challenges, affecting our physical health, mental wellbeing and how we choose to live our lives. But our community is uniting towards the ultimate goal of effective treatment for all.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the charity uniting people to stop cystic fibrosis.
