Stepping Stones DS - In Loving Memory of our Chair of Trustees; Irene Dzifa King Arthur

We honour and celebrate the life of our Chair of Trustees, Dzifa (Irene) Arthur, beloved wife to Dominic, devoted Mum to Cerys and Cruz, and a pillar of our Stepping Stones DS family. Irene’s presence touched us all deeply, and her sudden departure has left a profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Irene was a remarkable woman; intelligent, professional, and compassionate. Despite her already full schedule, she gave generously of her time and energy to lead our Board of Trustees with unwavering dedication. As Irene once expressed:
"I lead the Board to ensure that decisions made are in the best interests of Stepping Stones DS and that they promote good governance."
Irene’s commitment to our community was deeply rooted in her personal journey as a mum to Cruz, who is 7 and has Down syndrome. Irene found great fulfilment in:
"serving, offering my member perspective, and leading the Board of Trustees towards a growth-oriented future that maintains the interests of our children and young people."
Reflecting on the charity she so passionately led, Irene once said:
"Thanks to Stepping Stones DS, we have and continue to enjoy incredible support ranging from crucial therapies for our son, learning opportunities for our family, enviable social activities to healthy and valuable friendships. They are an Earth Angel."
This was the charity Irene championed, the one she nurtured, and the one that continues to support countless families.
Rest in peace, Irene. Your legacy of kindness, leadership, and love will forever remain in the heart of the Stepping Stones DS family.
