Stepping onto the streets · 1 January 2023

Our vision is to bring hope and restoration to the lives of the most vulnerable people in our community. Our focus is on building a family, working not just to put a plaster over the problem, but supporting our clients to see sustainable change.

Story

Hi folks,

As part of our Nursing course at University we have been assigned into groups and asked to do a team project that supports learning a new skill or promoting well-being.

We have decided to raise sponsors for local Burslem charity 'Number 11'. These guys work endlessly to support the homeless. Number 11 aspire hope and purpose for someone who might be in need of help. They offer programmes and education to re-build their lives. They offer a 'pay-as-you-feel' cafe and sleeping bags and other equipment that might help them on the streets.

Our group has chosen to walk 50km in January and Gemma and Kate will spend a night on the streets.

Our walks will be documented throughout the month and Gemma and Kate will spend a night on the streets to gain empathy, experience and to learn how it feels to very briefly be homeless. We hope this will also make us better nurses. Any sponsors would be greatly appreciated.
