Story
Steps of Love – The CHAT UK Peak Challenge - Children's Hospice Week June 15th - June 21st🏔️💛
THREE women:
Francesca : founder of CHAT UK, children's hospice nurse and advocate, walking in memory of Henry, her best little buddy.
Emilie: children's nurse with a passion for supporting children requiring LTV (Long Term Ventilation), climbing in memory of Milo and in support of Milo's mission. https://specialnamedfunds.cclg.org.uk/milos-mission/
Zoe: stepping forward for every child and family who needs children's hospice care.
ONE crazy cyclist:
Darren: cycling the elevation of the four peaks in memory of his daughter, Alessandra, who was supported by Helen and Douglas House Children's Hospice.
FOUR peaks:
15th June - Slieve Donard (Northern Ireland)
17th June - Ben Nevis (Scotland)
19th June - Scafell Pike (England)
20th June - Snowdon (Wales)
ONE goal: Climbing to the highest point in each UK country for seriously ill and disabled children and their families, while remembering the special children gone too soon.
United by personal and professional experience of children's hospice care, and a belief in the power of connection, advocacy and remembrance.
We are fundraising for Together for Short Lives, with money raised helping to support children’s hospices across the UK, providing vital care to seriously ill children and their families, often 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
💛 Why we’re doing this
CHAT UK was inspired by seeing first hand the impact of serious illness and disability on children and families in the UK and a desire to be a voice and advocate for these children and families.
🏔️ More than mountains
With every step, we will be carrying all the children cared for by children’s hospices and those that have died, carrying a flag bearing their names to the summit of the highest peak of each nation.
💫 A shared journey
This is a journey of remembrance, connection and advocacy, to shine a light on children’s hospice care, honour the lives of children gone too soon and stand alongside the families facing the most difficult of times.
💛 How you can help
If you feel able to support, whether through a donation, sharing this page, or following our journey, it would mean so much.
You are also very welcome to take part in your own way. Create your own walking, hiking or running challenge during Children’s Hospice Week and raise money and awareness for a cause close to your heart, whether in memory of a child, for Together for Short Lives, your local children’s hospice, or another meaningful charity. Tag us on instagram @chatuk54 and share the #stepsoflove.
This is about bringing people and causes together, taking steps, wherever you are, for the children and families who need it most.
Thank you for being part of this 💚💫
