Story
On the 29 May, myself and 5 others will be cycling from Land's End to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool—a massive journey with a singular purpose: to say thank you to the incredible cardiac unit that saved our friends’ daughter, Hallie's life.
Beth and Nick’s beautiful daughter Hallie was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a lifelong congenital heart defect which was detected at the 20 week scan.
Please see their story below:
We were informed Hallie would need open heart surgery at 6 months old, and further surgery in the future.
On the 22nd of May 2025, we placed our whole world into the hands of the incredible surgeons at Alder Hey. 7 long hours later and the surgery was a success. Her long road to recovery began, and Ward 1C became our home.
What truly made the difference was the compassionate care we received. The nurses and all the staff of the cardiac unit were not just incredible with Hallie; they were a rock for me and my wife, Beth, helping us navigate the scariest time of our lives.
Unfortunately, Hallie's recovery wasn't straightforward, and we ran into multiple complications along the way. The entire Alder Hey team handled these with compassion and professionalism, making a daunting experience as bearable as it possibly could have been.
Almost 6 months on from her surgery, our little warrior is absolutely thriving! She still has a long way to go, but we are in complete awe of her and what she has overcome, and can't wait to celebrate her turning one later this month ❤️
THE CHALLENGE
To give thanks for that life-saving care, I am taking on the monumental task of cycling from Land's End, Cornwall, starting May 29th, 2026, and finishing at the doors of Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool on June 5th, 2026. My goal is to complete this multi-day ride to honour Hallie and the dedicated team. I won't be cycling alone; I'll be joined on this epic journey by Hallie's 'Pop's', Rick, who shares our deep gratitude for the Alder Hey team aswell as Garry, Steve, Paddy and Tony
We are aiming to raise £10,000 to put directly back into the Alder Hey cardiac department. This money will assist the department with whatever they see fit, ensuring that future families like ours benefit from the same world-class care, comfort, and support, especially during difficult circumstances and complications.
Every mile cycled is a thank you.
Every donation is a heartbeat for another child.
Please support our ride for my princess Hallie!
