Story
Just imagine: forty men, many of whom have never performed on stage before, learning eight songs to perform as part a pop-up choir in a charity gala concert in front of a live audience at a prestigious venue, all to raise funds for Prostate Cymru! Please sponsor these plucky men who are raising funds for a great cause and a disease that touches almost every family. The concert on 31 October 2026 will also feature some amazing guest soloists and the renowned South Wales Male Choir. Tickets are on sale via the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's What's-on pages.
Hi all, if you have read down to here you may have now guessed that I am one of the 40 men, and no I have never performed in any way at all, rarely sing out loud unless there are many others singing, and don’t believe I can even sing but I’m here for the challenge, have stepped way outside my comfort zone and hope to raise some money for this worthy cause.
I understand that everyone’s finances are stretched right now but charities can’t continue without financial support. If you could give just a small amount, I would greatly appreciate it, as I’m certain Prostate Cymru would too.
Finally, if you really want to see how well we do, you could always come to the concert and see for yourself.
Thanks for reading,
Steve
Just a little update following my first rehearsal.
Firstly, a huge thank you to all of you who have donated to my fundraising page for Prostate Cymru. The current total is £288.
So, first rehearsal tonight. I knew it was going to be challenging and it certainly is., but we all worked hard and by the end of the session we were actually singing as one, with all the sections playing their part. A long way to go and more songs to learn, (just the 8 in 8 weeks), but everyone enjoyed themselves. Looking forward to next week.
