Story
Hi, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
In May 2023, just after his third birthday, my grandson Dexter was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Overnight, our world changed. Dexter became frightened and withdrawn - he stopped walking and barely spoke, overwhelmed by chemotherapy treatment and everything happening around him. At this point, Dexter was referred to Little Havens by his hospital team.
Through play therapy and incredible support, Dexter slowly rebuilt his confidence, started walking and talking again, and returned to being the cheeky, loving boy we know. It became his “safe place” during the hardest times, and a lifeline for both him and my daughter Aimee (Dexter's mum).
To say thank you and to help them continue their amazing work, I’ll be taking part in a Fire Walk on Saturday 11th April in Chelmsford.
Yes...I'll be walking barefoot over burning coals!
It might be a slightly crazy challenge to take on, but nothing compared to what children like Dexter go through.
If you're able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean so much to us and would allow Little Havens to continue supporting families when they need it most.
And of course, if you fancy some entertainment watching my feet burn, you're welcome to pop down and cheer from the sidelines! The Fire Walk will take place at 4pm at the Chelmsford Bowl (the area just outside John Lewis and Everyman Cinema).
Thank you so much for your support 💛
