Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Having joined the amazing team at St Wilfrid's Hospice in the last few months and seen colleagues jump out of a plane to raise money I felt compelled to take part in the next challenge on our list - The St Wilfrid's Hospice Firewalk.
Along with Lois, Rachael, Ryan, and all the other amazing people taking part in the event I will attempt to walk barefoot across a bed of hot coals - without getting burnt. I'm told we'll be guided by experts who will ensure we're relaxed and ready with the appropriate skills, so let's go for it!
For those of you who don't know St Wilfrid's Hospice, we are an independent local charity who, for over 35 years, have been caring for people in our community who are in the last phase of their lives.
We support local people from Emsworth in the west to Arundel in the east, including Chichester and Bognor, and the area stretching from the coast north to Midhurst.
We aim to relieve the suffering of people with life limiting and terminal conditions through excellent care in a safe and calm environment while supporting their loved ones.
By sharing stories of those who have experienced St Wilfrid’s Hospice care we help to de-mystify death, giving more patients and their families comfort and peace of mind in the knowledge they are not alone.
All St Wilfrid’s vital services are provided free of charge, and at any one time we are caring for over 330 people in our community.
With only a small percentage of care costs met by the NHS we rely heavily on fundraisers and donors to fund the remainder of our £10.5 million total costs each year.
