Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to at least £45 million a year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

On September 27th Blake will be doing her first charity walk, albeit with a little help from Daddy!!

We will be joining the Carr family to take part in the Walk Of Hope organised by Amy on a five mile walk from their home in Hemel Hempstead to Redbourn and back again.

Most of you will know about Amy and her story but those that don't, I listed it below in her own words to show why we are taking part and asking for donations to a fantastic cause.

Amy's story

9 years and 5 months ago to the day 13.07.2015, over 10 hours of awake surgery, followed by 6 weeks of radiotherapy and 6 months of chemotherapy… I won 🙌

Amy 1 vs 0 Glioblastoma 13.12.2024, just 6 weeks after the news from the previous MRI revealed the “all clear” you got my hopes too high. You told me you were back.

Highest of highs to the lowest of lows.

However, deep down, I knew you’d return, but only after I’d completed my mission to complete 5 marathons and raise over my target of £20000 to help future generations and fund vital projects for Brain Tumour Research.

I’ve sorted my finances, my will, funeral, I’ve even found a safe place for research 🔬 can be carried out on my brain to discover why I’ve lived years after prognosis with the newly branded in 2021 “Astrocytoma WHO Grade 4 IDH1 G395AA Mutation”

But now I’m ready to fight you again.

“Months, not years.” Unnamed Oncologist.

These words will stay with me throughout the fight.

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
