Riding for Steve – 420 Miles for Pancreatic Cancer
Breaking news....
With great relief and gratitude I'm pleased to say that John Gillies will be guiding me through South London on my first leg of my journey to France. Pictured below on his epic London to Brighton ride

Now I know I'll not get lost in London.
On 12th September 2025, I’ll be setting off on a 420-mile solo bike ride in memory of my friend and colleague, Steve Finan, who sadly passed away on 9th November 2024, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at just 48 years old.
I worked along side Steve for many years and his passing has left a deep impact on all who knew him, this ride is my way of honouring his memory and raising awareness and support for those affected by this devastating illness.
I’ll be starting from Lidl’s Belvedere Regional Distribution Centre, where Steve worked and I'll be riding a 1936 French randonneur bicycle all the way back to the location of the original owner, traced through a small tag left on the frame.
I’ll be doing this entire journey unsupported, just me and the bike carrying everything I need as I go.
I’m aiming to raise £5,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, to help fund vital research, raise awareness, and support others facing this cruel disease.
If you’re able to sponsor me, no matter how big or small, your support means the world, not just to me, but to everyone fighting pancreatic cancer and the families affected by it.
We are Pancreatic Cancer UK.
We go above and beyond for everyone affected by this disease. Right now, half of people with pancreatic cancer die within three months of diagnosis. Families are left with only hope to hold onto. They need more. So, we do more.
We bring more breakthroughs through research, more change through campaigning, and more support through our expert nurses. We make more noise because people have gone unheard. We are relentless because the disease is ruthless. We care more because people feel forgotten.
