Steve and Kamla’s Stories

For our captaincy year at Verulam Golf Club we are raising money for a very worthwhile cause - Headway in South Bucks.

What has led Steve and Kamla to support this charity ….

Some 25 years ago Steve’s wife, Jane, suffered brain haemorrhage while on holiday in the US. Thanks to immediate surgery, expert care and several months of rest she made a complete recovery; the sense of gratitude and good fortune has never left us. However, this is a rare outcome and such a catastrophic event more often results in permanent brain injury or worse. Devastatingly this was the case for Kamla’s mother 10 years ago, who in addition suffered multiple organ failures and passed away 7 months later. The impact of such traumas to the brain, often from an out of the blue event, can be a life changing event for the injured and all their loved ones

Headway provides support, services and a true lifeline to survivors, their families and carers. Since her own brush with serious brain injury Jane has volunteered her time and raised much needed funds for Headway. She is such an inspiration.

This is why Steve and Kamla want to take the opportunity of captaincy at Verulam Golf Club to fundraise for Headway.
