Why I'm climbing a mountain for African women entrepreneurs

Malawi Trek 2024 · 25 May 2024
Hello friends! I am proud to be leading a group of Microloan Foundation USA board members and supporters on a journey to Malawi this May! We are raising funds for Microloan Foundation USA, a non-profit that works with entrepreneurial women in sub-Saharan Africa, a cause that's very close to my heart. Thank you for donating to this important work!
Microloan Foundation enables some of the world's poorest people to work their own way out of poverty by providing training and microloans. We help women in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe start successful businesses to build independence and financial resilience. Since 2002, MicroLoan has supported more than 450,000 entrepreneurial women, with an estimated 1.9 million children, who now have increased access to nutritious food, healthcare and education. We also educate women on the benefits of saving and encourage them to make modest savings to provide insurance against future crop failure, family illness and other unpredictable situations. MicroLoan's vision is a world where all those living in poverty have the opportunity to build better lives for themselves and their families.
The group will be traveling to Malawi (at our own expense), where we will visit our in-country team and meet some MicroLoan clients who have started successful businesses -- and will also climb the majestic Mount Mulanje. As the father of a 25-year-old daughter who feels the inequalities women face, even in our open society, I’m personally motivated to help women in countries where men hold the vast majority of power, resources, and cultural dominance. Please help me support this great cause that is helping to improve the lives of women, families, and children who have so much less than we do.
** I will double your impact by MATCHING YOUR DONATION dollar for dollar up to my goal of $6,000 (and more, if we can top that amount!) **
