Story
As some of you know by now, since Easter I’ve been busy training for a (very) big race.
The ‘North Coast 110’ is 110 mile, single-stage, ultramarathon with around 6,000 metres of ascent and descent. Starting at 7:30am on 3rd October at Hartland Quay in Devon, and following the South-West Coastal Path, it finishes some time the following day at Minehead in Somerset. This will be, by a considerable distance, the biggest run I have ever tackled.
(To give this some context, that’s the equivalent of more than 4 back-to-back marathons, or 35 Parkruns, if you’d prefer, whilst climbing from sea-level to Everest Base Camp and back down again.)
I’m using this ridiculous venture to help Jason Thomson, the National President of 41 Club (the association of ex-Round Tablers), to raise money for his chosen charity, ANDYSMANCLUB. This is a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free to attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online.
Far too many of us have lost friends to suicide, it's horrible, and ANDYSMANCLUB is actively working in communities across the UK to provide men with a safe space where they feel comfortable to talk and open up about their experiences in a room free of judgment. So, if you’re able to spare a few quid to support this, you will literally be saving lives.
Wish me luck!
Steve
