Story
My name is Steve Munroe and I'm a brain injury survivor. In 2021 I had the AstraZeneca vaccine which straight away resulted in unbearable headaches. A CT scan showed i had two bleeds on the brain and I was operated on. This is where my journey started .
I contacted Headways Basingstoke in the summer of 2023 as I was still struggling mentally and physically, trying to get back to normal day to day life. I met fellow brain injury survivor's who could relate to what I went through and continued to go through. I was also lucky enough to enrol on a first of it's kind, course, for Headway " Living with brain injury. "
Once you are a client at Headways you always remain part of their family irrespective of where you are in your journey. They were there again for me late 2023 when I had major spinal surgery to remove a tumour.
It has taken me around 5 years to get back to how I was before the brain operation and I would not be where I am today without the amazing support from Headways Basingstoke staff and clients. This is why I have wanted to give something back to Headways and so I am walking on the 28th May from Newbury to Headways Basingstoke which is just under 14 miles. I will be joined by my friend and fellow brain injury survivor Keith Vallis.
Any donations however small would be very much appreciated to go to funds for headways for them to continue their valued work.
Thank you
Steve
