Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 26th April I will be getting on my bike to take on the Sportive Kinross 92 mile black route with over 6,200 feet of climbing to raise money for Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) a charity very close to our hearts in memory of my nephew Charlie who passed away 2 days after his 17th birthday on 12th September 2024.

Charlie was born within a rare genetic disorder which required 24 hour care, he also lived with respiratory complications and epilepsy. As a family we were first introduced to the wonderful CHAS team in 2023 when Charlie’s health deteriorated.

CHAS have ensured my sister and brother in law were fully supported as Charlie approached end of life care in several ways. Louise, Graeme, Jack and Charlie were given opportunities to make precious memories through long weekends at at Rachel House where the team took over the caring duties allowing Louise, Graeme & Jack to spend quality time with Charlie doing fun things such as going to parties and relaxing in the hot tub.

The sibling support service provided by CHAS has been immensely important for Jack, he has met other siblings in similar situations and was given a support worker who supported him through the last few months of Charlie’s life and continues to support him through his grief.

With the support from the palliative care team & CHAS care at home team, Charlie was able to stay at home until he passed away peacefully surround by everyone who loved him.

CHAS provides vital services at the most difficult time in any parents life, please help me raise vital funds for them to continue the amazing work they do to support more families like ours.
