Story
Sadly, my cousin Alan ‘Al’ Jones was diagnosed with mouth cancer in August 2025. Despite his incredible courage, strength and determination, he passed away in February 2026. Al was full of love, laughter, and life, and his loss has left a huge void in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
I am taking on this challenge alongside friends, in Al’s memory – to honour his life and help raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of mouth cancer, where early detection can make such a vital difference. We aim to complete a 14-mile section of the Mortimer Trail from Aymestrey to Ludlow. This features a mix of woodland, rolling, and steep terrain.
I hope to raise funds for the Mouth Cancer Foundation, a charity that supports, informs, and cares for individuals and families affected by mouth cancer, throat cancer and other head and neck cancers. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support those facing this devastating disease and contribute to greater awareness, earlier diagnosis, and better outcomes for others.
Thank you so much for your support – it truly means the world to us and helps keep Al’s memory alive.
