Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Steve was an amazing father, grandfather and husband, roles he cherished deeply, and he is greatly missed by his family. They were always at the heart of everything he did, and his love, guidance, and quiet strength will live on through them.

Steve was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2012, a battle he faced with remarkable courage and strength. In 2016 the cancer progressed to his lymph nodes and in 2018 he was told he was palliative but could have treatment. Following the treatment the cancer it was discovered that the cancer had spread to his organs. In 2019 it was found that the cancer had spread yet again, this time to his heart, and there were no further treatment options available. Throughout this incredibly difficult journey, Steve fought the illness bravely for almost 8 years and was cared for by the teams at QA, Southampton and the Royal Marsden Hospitals. Even during the hardest times, he showed resilience, dignity, and an unwavering spirit that inspired those around him.

Steve was a hardworking man who gave his all in every aspect of life. A man of many talents and determination, he worked in the dockyard for over 20 years and was always keen to learn and better himself. He undertook numerous night courses at college, including plastering, bricklaying, photography, and football coaching. Whatever he set his mind to, he approached with commitment and pride.

He also served in the Territorial Army and remained active throughout his life. Steve regularly took part in the annual New Year’s Day race along Southsea seafront and participated in several charity events, including the ITV Telethon, always wanting to give back and support others.

Steve will always be remembered for his huge, friendly smile and his willingness to help in any capacity. He had time for everyone, never hesitated to lend a hand, and made people feel welcome and valued.

For over ten years, Steve was a valued member of Meon Milton Football Club. He served on the committee and played a significant role in helping the club grow and develop into what it is today. As a football coach and manager, he gave his time selflessly, and he also took on one of the club’s most demanding roles as Treasurer — a responsibility he carried out with dedication, integrity, and care, doing a truly fantastic job.

A true gentleman in every sense of the word, Steve will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will never be forgotten.
