London Marathon 2025
Campaign by Grief Encounter (RCN 1175837)
To help bereaved children, young people and their families find hope and healing.

Story

In my 40th year I have decided to run the London Marathon!!

Having lost my Mum when I was 5 years old and my Dad when I was 18 years old, I am acutely aware of the pain and suffering young children can go through when a parent dies. Its a feeling that will never leave me and something that I continue to fight to this day. I was lucky that I had 3 older sisters who have always supported me, but they were suffering their own grief. To have had Grief Encounter and the support network, would have been vital to me and my family.

Grief Encounter work closely with individuals, families, schools and professionals to offer a way through the anxiety, fear and isolation so often caused by grief. Their services include:

One-to-one counselling

Group workshops

Music, art and drama therapy

Residentials and Family Fun Days

Bespoke support for schools, universities and colleges

A dedicated Trauma Team for support following a sudden or traumatic bereavement.

Accredited training courses and webinars for professionals

Award-winning resources including our unique Grief Relief Kit, Grief Encounter Workbook and Journal

£2500 of the funds you raised will allow 5 families to attend a residential camp over a weekend. They will meet other bereaved families, allowing them to feel less isolated while having new, fun experiences together.

Times are tough but if you can donate anything at all, then it would be truly appreciated x
