Ride for Rosemere 2026 – 2,500 Miles for Cancer Care

Steven Clifford is raising money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation
Rosemere Cancer Foundation supports world-class care for the 70,000 people in Lancashire and South Cumbria currently living with cancer, by funding cutting-edge equipment, research, training, and patient welfare projects to make their cancer journey more effective, comfortable and stress-free.

Story

In February 2024, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Thanks to the incredible care I received from the NHS and the support of Rosemere Cancer Foundation, I am now in remission and able to take on this extraordinary challenge.

From 5–13 September 2026, at the age of 75, I will ride a small Honda CRF300L motorcycle from Chorley to John O'Groats, then the full length of mainland Britain to Land's End, before heading home via North Wales. Covering around 2,500 miles in just over a week, this journey is my way of saying thank you and helping ensure others receive the same support I was fortunate to receive.

Rosemere Cancer Foundation supports cancer patients and services across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Donations help fund life-changing equipment, facilities, research, and patient support beyond what the NHS can provide.

Every pound donated will go directly to Rosemere Cancer Foundation, helping improve cancer care for local people and their families.

This isn't just another motorcycle trip.

I am 75 years old and recovering from bowel cancer.

My riding partner Andy is 73, diabetic, and has undergone open-heart surgery.

Together we are determined to prove that challenges don't end because of age or health setbacks. We want to turn our experiences into something positive and raise vital funds for a cause close to our hearts.

To make the challenge even greater, I won't be riding a large touring motorcycle. Instead, I will be travelling on a Honda CRF300L dual-sport bike—a machine designed more for trails than long-distance comfort, with a fuel range of only around 110 miles between stops.

Andy will be riding his Triumph Bonneville T120 as we take on some of Britain's most iconic roads and landscapes.

I have written *The Adventures of Sid the Stoma*, a book about my journey through cancer, surgery, life with a stoma, and learning to live again. It’s honest, sometimes funny, sometimes difficult, but always real. It reflects what so many people go through when cancer becomes part of your life.

If my story, my book, or this journey resonates with you, I would be incredibly grateful for any donation. Every contribution helps make a real difference.

Please support us if you can.

Whether you donate £5 or £50, every contribution will help Rosemere Cancer Foundation continue its outstanding work supporting cancer patients across our region.

If you're unable to donate, please share this page with friends, family and fellow bikers.

Here is our proposed route, we will be travelling only on ‘A’ and ‘B’ roads, no motorways. We would love anyone interested to come along and wave us off and we invite like minded bikers to join us along the way, we will of course be providing updates at each stopover.

Thank you for helping us make every mile count.
