Run with Me to Fight Hunger! 🏃♂️💚
Hi friends and family,
This year, I'm lacing up my running shoes to take on an incredible challenge – running a marathon! But this isn't just any marathon; it's a mission to support the Edinburgh Food Project, and I need your help to make a real difference.
While living in North Edinburgh, near Muirhouse, where my wife taught at the local high school, I witnessed firsthand the impact of poverty on the lives of children in the area. Many struggle with basic needs like food, clothing, and heating, and some have never ventured beyond their community. This made me realise how fortunate I was growing up, and I feel compelled to give back.
Why I'm Running
Last year I ran my first ever Marathon, which was a huge personal achievement, but this time, it's about so much more than crossing the finish line. I'm committed to raising £1,000 to support the Edinburgh Food Project. This organisation runs seven food banks across Edinburgh, providing emergency food provisions for those in need. They offer much more than food, including housing support, employment assistance, and a Money Advice Service.
How You Can Help
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact on someone's life. Here are some ways your contribution can help:
• £25: Can provide emergency food for two people who can't afford to eat, keep warm, or pay the bills.
• £50: Can support a family with emergency food.
• £150: Can help a food bank respond to increased need for up to one week.
In 2024 alone, 19,734 three-day emergency food parcels were distributed, and 76 parcels have already been given out this year, 2025.
As I train for the marathon, I'll be sharing updates on my progress, training milestones, and the incredible impact your support is making. Together, we can make a lasting difference for The Edinburgh Food Project and the lives of those it supports.
Thank you for your generosity and encouragement. You're not just helping me run a race – you're helping to change lives.
With gratitude, Steven
