Campaign by Young Lives vs Cancer (RCN 1107328 and SC039857)
The VCMF is a fund I set up in memory of my dear mum who left a huge hole in all our lives on December 8th 2008 when she lost her short battle with cancer aged just 50. This page is to keep her memory alive whilst supporting others.

Story

The Premier Travel Group is proud to support our local community and for this years challenge we are taking on the London Bridges walk again to raise funds for the Veronica Claxton Memorial fund who support the great work of Young Lives v's Cancer.

We have a team of 38 taking on the this challenge on Saturday 24th May where we will weave our way along 24 miles from Richmond Bridge to Tower Bridge taking in 20 bridges along the way.

We've started our training walks and are putting in the miles to make this challenge so we would really love your support in helping us to support the wonderful brave children and their families supported by the amazing Young Lives v's Cancer.

This charity has touched the hearts of us at Premier Travel over the years so every donation makes a difference, no matter how small, so if you can spare a few pennies, please do!

A little bit about our chosen charity:

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we get that. We are the charity that helps children and young people (0-25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them.

We know everyone’s different, so we work hard to make sure each family has what they need to get through cancer. It could be a financial grant for a parent struggling to keep their child warm through their treatment or for a young person who can’t afford to get to hospital. Or helping a family stay together at one of our free Homes from Home close to the hospital where their child is having treatment.

And if we think families aren’t being heard by the whole system, we’re not afraid to raise their voices or shout on their behalf. Children and young people with cancer deserve the same opportunities as anyone else. We’ll always have their back, because we’ve been there before.

Powered by the kindness of our supporters, we’ll face it all together.

The Veronica Claxton Memorial Fund is a fund set up by her family in memory her who left a huge hole in their lives on December 8th 2008 when she lost her short battle with cancer aged just 50.

Keeping her name alive and helping to support others was a real inspiration for them and the fundraising began in mid 2009. To date as of September 2023 they have managed to raise over £350,000 and £450,000 for all charities.

Their work has seen them recognised with various awards both locally and nationally with a trip to 10 Downing St after being named a 'point of light' by former prime minister David Cameron and a regional fundraiser of the year award courtesy of the Pride of Britain awards where they competed with 16 others for the national fundraiser of the year. They were then delighted to receive an invite to Buckingham Palace as part of the Kings coronation celebration in May 2023.
