Story
π I am very late to the party this year with the fundraising for the Glasgow Kiltwalk! However, I hope all my pals will get behind me and help raise as much money as we can for Calums Cabin. π§‘
On Sunday 27th April 2025 we will embark again for the 23 mile Mighty Stride of the Glasgow Kiltwalk which takes us from Glasgow Green to Balloch! π
This year, however, will be a different year to the previous ones because the wonderful Therese sadly passed away last month.
Therese was Shanneal, Foleen and Declan's mum, and was just the most fabulous Irish matriarch of a mammy, who would always be with us, and looking after us from the start, throughout and to the very end, cheering us all the way and right over the finish line.
She was chief chauffeur, cheerleader, bag carrier and alcohol smuggler!! π
(If you know, you know!) π
We're all really going to miss her this year, but we know she'll be with Eilish looking down on us as we make our way to Balloch! π¦
To recap and remind everyone, the reason why we do the Kiltwalk is to reminisce and keep memories alive because 11 years ago in September my fabulous friend Shanneal tragically lost her 17 year daughter Eilish.
Whilst I didn't get the chance to meet Eilish personally, I feel like I knew her through the many wonderful stories Shanneal would tell me.
I used to say to Shanneal that I couldn't even begin to imagine what she went through at the time, however, I now know exactly what Shanneal went through due to my Dad's tragic death in February 2024.
BUT! This isn't about me or my family. This is about Shanneal and her family.
Eilish was just filling up her car with petrol in Paisley in September 2014 when a car reversed into Eilish's car resulting in her very early and tragic death.
Eilish wanted to be pediatric cancer nurse hence the reason Shanneal and her family chose Calums Cabin to raise money for as part of our Kiltwalk, the charity offers family's the opportunity of residing in accommodation in Glasgow whilst their child under goes cancer treatment in the city's hospital, further to that they also offer respite accommodation on the Isle of Bute, and other locations.
Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read this post and I appreciate how the world is right now and money is tight but if you are able to, any donations will be greatly received.
Thanks. Steven, and the entire Team Eilish Kiltwalkers!
