Story
On the 4th May I will be taking part in the Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon to raise money for the haematology department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. This is to thank them for saving my wife's life over Christmas. Rachel was extremely ill with TTP and was rushed to Birmingham on the 19th Dec.
Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) is a rare blood disorder, that affects between 6 to 10 people in every million. This is a life threatening condition. Rachel received 325 bags of plasma during her 2 weeks in hospital , including two spells in intensive care. Thanks to everyone at the hospital, Rachel is now home, but will require ongoing care at the haematology department
