Honeypot’s vision is for every child to make the most of their one chance at childhood. Since 1996 we have been working to enhance the lives of vulnerable children and young carers aged 5-12 years by providing residential respite breaks and on-going outreach support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

With around 30,000 young carers living in Scotland, The Honeypot Children's charity provides respite and relaxation breaks to children, aged between 5 and 12, who have caring responsibility for their families. The first Scottish respite centre opened in the summer of 2023, and is situated in the picturesque Dalleagles, New Cumnock. A Honeypot break consists of fun, rest, relaxation and activities. It is a scarce opportunity for these young people to be a 'child' for the weekend, free from stress, worry and hardships. These kids are inspiring and their stories very traumatic. Honeypot House in Dalleagles has received extensive refurbishment and investment from the charity, however there is a wishlist to make the children's experiences better and even more memorable. There are big plans for more breaks and more children from across Scotland to enjoy the rich beauty and history of Ayrshire including the magnificent Dumfries House Estate.

On the 19th May 2024. My son Lynden and I will take on Britain's tallest mountain. None other than the mighty Ben Nevis. We are super excited to be taking on this challenge for such a wonderful charity. We aim to do this in 6 hours give or take and can't wait.

We have set our Just Giving target at £1000 but hope to raise more. The monies will be given to The Honeypot Children's Charity and Operational Manager Bruce Ruthven to spend on enhancing children's experiences whilst in residence at Honeypot House, Dalleagles.

On behalf of The Honeypot, Lynden and I.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
