Story
There are 16 million disabled people in the UK. That’s one in four of us. Life is harder when you’re disabled. You're twice as likely to be unemployed and the cost of living is higher by £1,010* each month. It’s wrong and unacceptable.
Scope’s mission is for disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.
So, I'm fundraising for Scope to create a fairer society.
We want a future that’s fair to disabled people, always. Join me in making this happen.
I have taken on this challenge to help raise funds for Scope and to make a difference to those who need it.
The last time I did any sort of long distance running was in 2005 when I ran the Great North Run and the London Marathon in 2002.
Scope is a charity close to my heart, my late Dad and Cousin were both disabled. I would like to do this challenge raising as much as possible and completing the 26.2 miles in their memory. I want to help ensure a fairer disability system for all and I’m putting the running shoes on to get fit and healthy to raise money for this very worthwhile cause. I was due to run in 2025 but unfortunately had to defer my place so am grateful to all who’ve helped so far. I have been working hard and will keep going to complete the 2026 London Marathon which in my view is the greatest run in the world. I need help to raise as much as we can. No amount is too small!!! Thank you.
All funds go directly towards supporting Scope’s vision of a world where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else. We campaign relentlessly to create a fairer society, while providing practical and emotional advice and support to disabled people and their families when it’s needed most.
