Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

In April, I’ll be lacing up my running shoes and taking on the London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Brain Tumour Research. This incredible charity is dedicated to helping those affected by brain tumours, offering vital resources, care, and hope to families during some of their most challenging times.

This cause is deeply personal to me. My 6 year old Son's best friend, Robyn (I also went to School with her Father), is bravely facing the challenges of living with a brain tumour. Her bravery and positivity inspire us every day, and I’m proud to be “Running for Robyn” to show my support for her and everyone navigating this journey.

The day before I run the London Marathon, my son Freddie will be taking part in the Mini London Marathon, also running in support of his friend Robyn. It means a lot to him to be involved, and I am so proud to be doing this together as a team

Robyns' story

Robyn was diagnosed with a rare DNET brain tumour in May 2022 after showing signs that were later confirmed as absence seizures . The tumour is slow growing and causes medication resistant epilepsy. Robyns tumour isn't operable and so chemotherapy treatment is required to stabilise its growth.

At the moment, whilst the tumour is growing, it isn't yet applying pressure and so Robyns treatment isn't yet imminently necessary.

Robyn currently visits the Royal Marsden cancer hospital for an MRI every 3 months to allow her oncologist to monitor the tumour's development and plan next steps.

Every step I take during training and actually running the marathon itself is for Robyn and for those in need of help and support. Your help means the world—whether it’s through a donation, sharing this page, or simply spreading awareness. Together, we can make a real difference. Thank you!
