Story
2025 will be another big year of running and raising funds for The Running Charity.
First up was the London Marathon and what a day it was. I had the privilege of running with a young person who is supported by the charity. We laughed, we smiled and we pushed on to take 20 minutes off their time from last year. I’ve run over 100 marathons and this has been my all time favourite. To play even a small part in their achievement means more than I could ever say.
Next it’s off to Chamonix in August for UTMB’s CCC race, which will be 100km of mountain running awesomeness with more than 6,000 meters of elevation gain.
I’ve been supporting The Running Charity for several years as a volunteer, mentor and fundraiser. At the charity we believe that running is as good for your mind as it is for your body. Running builds resilience and self-esteem, and we use this to improve the lives of 16-25 year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Homelessness can happen at any time and to anyone. And when it happens to a young person it can affect them for the rest of their life. We use running to improve fitness and instil a goal-setting mentality that are key tools in helping these vulnerable young people to build healthy, sustainable futures.
