Steven Lodge is raising money for Schoolreaders

Team: Kindred's Cornwall Trek for Schoolreaders

26 mile south west coast trek · 19 September 2026

At Schoolreaders we believe every child deserves to learn to read well. That's why, for over a decade, we have been providing children in primary schools across the country with free, weekly, one-to-one reading support through our network of volunteers. Help us reach more children by donating today.

Story

26 Miles. One Big Challenge. One Brilliant Cause. ❤️🥾

On 19th September, I’m taking on one of the biggest personal challenges I’ve set myself this year — 26 miles along the stunning Cornish coast, all in aid of Schoolreaders.

And I’m not going to lie… 26 miles is a long way! 😂

I’ll be spending a full day on my feet, tackling steep climbs, tough descents, rugged coastal paths and whatever the Cornish coastline decides to throw at me.

It’s going to hurt. It’s going to be tiring. There will almost certainly be moments when I question why I thought this was a good idea! 😂

But that’s exactly why I wanted to do it.

Ias most of you will know ’ve always enjoyed pushing myself and setting myself challenges, and this gives me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone while doing something that can genuinely make a difference to other people.

The charity I’m raising money for is Schoolreaders — a national charity providing free one-to-one reading support to primary school children who need it most.

Every year, one in four children leave primary school unable to read to the expected standard. Which I find absolutely crazy. That can have a huge impact on their confidence, their education and their future opportunities.

Schoolreaders works with volunteers and schools to provide children with the individual support they need to improve their reading, build their confidence and give them a better chance in life.

And that’s what I’ll be thinking about when the miles start to take their toll.

When I’m tired.

When my legs are aching.

When I’m climbing yet another hill.

When 20 miles feels like 30. 😂

I’ll remind myself that every step is helping to raise money for a charity that is helping to change children’s futures.

So I’m asking for your support.

If you can spare £1, £2, £5, £10 or whatever you can afford, I’d be incredibly grateful. It might seem like a small amount, but collectively it can make a real difference.

This isn’t just about me completing 26 miles.

It’s about using those 26 miles to help give children the confidence, skills and opportunities they deserve.

26 miles. One day. One personal challenge. One brilliant cause.

I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. 💪🥾

Please support me if you can — and help me change a child’s life story, one mile at a time. ❤️

Thank you. 🙏
