Story

Over the last 3 years my mum has faced not just one but four separate primary cancers. In May 2022 she received the diagnosis of breast cancer and through that treatment it was also discovered that she had separate primary cancers in the kidney and lung. Following 3 major surgeries we were delighted when in 2024 she received the news that they were all in remission.

However, shortly following this news, after a routine scan, heartbreakingly she was diagnosed with leukaemia that is not curable. Her strength, resilience and determination to keep fighting inspires me every day. Sadly too many families have to face similar challenges. I have therefore decided to run the London marathon to raise funds for the Institute of Cancer Research who undertake pioneering research into people with multiple cancers.

My son Ethan (18), also a keen runner, wants to support this cause and as an extra challenge we are planning to run sub 3 hours.

Fittingly, I will be turning 50 on the weekend of the London marathon, so nothing would make me prouder than to support an amazing charity and cross the finish line together with my son, with my mum watching!

By supporting this cause, you're helping fund vital research that could change lives. Any donations you can make would be hugely appreciated! Thank you.
