Coast to Coast for Alzheimer's · 8 March 2025

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On Saturday the 8th of March I am planning to run the length of the Forth and Clyde Canal from Bowling on the west coast of Scotland to The Kelpies on the east. A distance of 34 miles or 55 kilometres.

I want to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society as I have a close friend whose father has been badly impacted by the disease. This resonated powerfully with me as whilst I don’t have first hand experience of Alzheimer’s, because of my own mental health struggles over the past few years I do know exactly what it feels like to be trapped inside your own head and not being able to find a way out.

This is not an organised event, but merely something I wanted to do off my own back to try and make a difference, however small. Isla will be posting updates to the comments of the pinned post on my Facebook page on the day of the run for anyone wishing to keep track of how it is going. Feel free to share this page.

Please consider sponsoring me as I try to raise funds to help fight this dreadful disease.

Thank you.
