The Story

On Sunday 17th August 2013, it was my dad’s 69th birthday and as a family we were together to celebrate with him. Just 5 days later, I woke up in the early hours to a phone call that he had been rushed to hospital. On arrival at A&E I was taken through to see him, my mum was by his side and gave me the news that he had already passed away. He had a sudden heart attack while sleeping at home.

The Plan

For the 10 year anniversary of his passing, I have decided to take on a challenge, to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support.

The significant numbers are:

69 - His age.

5 - Days after his birthday, that he passed away.

The Challenge

I will be completing the Bob Graham Round, which is 66 miles (I’ll increase to 69 miles) of hiking in The Lake District, including 42 Wainwrights, and I’ll split this over 5 days. My good friend Stephen Hindmarsh (Marshy) who I hike with regularly, will be joining me to provide his support for what will be a demanding challenge.

The Charity

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
