🌍 Walking for Humanity: A 25km Charity Trek for MSF 🥾
On September 13th we will be walking 25 kilometres, crossing 16 bridges in London along the way, in support of Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF)— a global humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency medical care to people affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, and exclusion from healthcare.
💉 What MSF Does
MSF operates in over 70 countries, providing:
Emergency medical care in war zones and disaster areas, including trauma surgery, maternal health, and treatment for infectious diseases.
Vaccination campaigns to prevent outbreaks of deadly diseases like measles and cholera.
Mobile clinics and field hospitals in remote or conflict-ridden regions where healthcare infrastructure is damaged or nonexistent.
Mental health support for communities and individuals affected by violence, displacement, and trauma.
Treatment for neglected diseases such as sleeping sickness and kala azar.
Search and rescue missions in the Mediterranean Sea, saving lives of migrants and refugees.
Rapid response teams that can deploy within 24–48 hours to new crises.
🌐 Where MSF Is Making a Difference Right Now
Gaza: MSF is responding to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. Over 2 million people face starvation and essential supplies critically low. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and MSF teams are treating record levels of acute malnutrition, especially among children and the elderly and calling for unrestricted humanitarian access.
Hospitals have been bombed, medical supplies are critically low, and healthcare workers are risking their lives daily to treat the wounded and care for the sick. MSF has over 900 staff members in Gaza, many of whom are local Palestinians, delivering emergency care despite the constant threat of violence and the collapse of the healthcare system
Despite these immense challenges, MSF continues to provide critical medical care, including surgeries, trauma treatment, and maternal health services. Their unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles drives them to deliver aid where it's needed most, regardless of the dangers involved.
Humanitarian Plea: MSF and over 100 organisations are calling for an immediate ceasefire and unrestricted humanitarian access.
Northern Nigeria: MSF is battling a severe malnutrition crisis, having treated nearly 70,000 children in 2025 alone. In Katsina State, they’ve opened new feeding centres and are distributing nutritional supplements to over 66,000 children.
Ukraine, South Sudan, and Central African Republic: MSF continues to deliver trauma care, mental health support, and essential medical services in conflict zones where local health systems are overwhelmed.
Mediterranean Sea: MSF conducts search and rescue operations for migrants fleeing violence and poverty, offering medical care and dignity to those rescued at sea.
🩺 Why It Matters
MSF’s work is guided by medical ethics and humanitarian principles. They provide care based solely on need, regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. Their teams are made up of both international and locally recruited staff, with around 90% of their workforce coming from the communities they serve.
