Story
I’m walking 100 kilometres over two days in honour of my nan, who lived with us for many years with Alzheimer’s. Those years were a mix of everything you can imagine — moments that were fun and familiar, moments that felt almost normal, and moments that were deeply distressing for her and for us as a family.
As the condition progressed, everyday life became unpredictable. There were times when confusion and fear put both Nan and the rest of us in situations that could have been dangerous. Alzheimer’s doesn’t just steal memories; it reshapes relationships, routines, and the sense of safety that every family deserves.
That’s why I’m taking on this challenge. Alzheimer’s Society is doing incredible work — funding vital research, supporting families through the hardest moments, and fighting for better care and understanding. Their work brings hope to people living with dementia today and helps build a future where no family has to face this alone.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps them continue that mission. Thank you for supporting me, and for supporting the millions of people affected by dementia.
